Cilla Ng, AIPE 2002

What amazed me most was the fact that the friendship and bonding gained in AIPE did not wane with time. Last autumn, while preparing for the interview of a consulting firm, I sent an e-mail to an AIPE friend working in its Shanghai office for advice. She called me the next day and shared with me the details of her work. I was deeply touched and moved by her generous help. Though we did not manage to contact regularly during all these years, she stepped up immediately. What better can one ask for a program that allows you to build long-lasting friendship with people around the globe?

With the world changing at such an incredible speed, there is all the more pressing need for us to interact with people from all walks of life. In this regard, AIPE is not only a good starting point, but one that also allows you to plant the seeds of long-life friendship.

Adam Wong, AIPE 2004

Every individual at different points of time have triggers that immensely impact their lives. I have undergone several till now and AIPE was definitely one of those enlightening me the most. Renowned professors serving the greatest universities and research institutes gathered in Hong Kong to inspire us. We could also have the luxury to meet current policy leaders. I always ask myself if I would have the same 3-week opportunity to learn from all these truly global leaders. Another amazing experience was with the brilliant classmates from disparate backgrounds. Their knowledge, vision and attitude were so impressive!

William Lui, AIPE 2005

Looking back in hindsight, joining AIPE was one my best decisions made throughout my college life. Academically, AIPE broadened my horizons in the sense that I could communicate with people of a multitude of nationalities and backgrounds. I still can recall the fulfillment to interact with talents from top tier institutions like Harvard, MIT, and Northwestern, etc.

Albert Ma, AIPE 2006

The perspectives gained from the series of lectures allowed students to appreciate the dynamics and intricacy of modern political economies around the world. AIPE also put students’ academic readiness to test with a series of seminars by influential members of the professional communities in and outside of Hong Kong, from commerce to corruption prevention; from intellectuals to diplomats. Speaking on different focuses, guest speakers challenged students’ intuition of reality and engaged them in spirited discussions and sometimes heated debates. Aside from the times of rigorous learning, the shared living space between students of diverse national and cultural backgrounds also provided a perfect environment for exchanges of thoughts and insights.

Bonnie Cheng, AIPE 2007

AIPE turned out to be one of the most enriching and enlightening experiences that I had at university. Apart from substantive knowledge, AIPE also introduced me to a new mode of learning. Lessons were arenas for meaningful discussion and debates between professors and students and amongst students. Lunch hours often became mini-forums whereby participants from a wide array of background shared their views on a multitude of issues around the world. To help us strike a nice balance between learning and playing, our organisers kindly arranged a variety of activities for us to join, ranging from boat trips to museum visits. These were the happy moments which I am sure all participants would be reminiscent of for years to come.

From the perspective of a Hong Kong participant, I wish to say that AIPE really has much more to offer than one could expect. It is a programme that enables you to rediscover Hong Kong – to ponder about the relevance of newly-learnt concepts to our local circumstances, to reflect on our position in the regional and global stage, to re-explore Hong Kong from the perspective of prominent local speakers; and to appreciate the beauty of this city in the company of friends from around the world.

Jocelyn Chen, AIPE 2007

AIPE! Before joining the AIPE family, I would never be able to imagine what it meant by being an AIPEr!

Sure, it means A--Academic! I enjoyed insightful lectures with unprecedented in-class experiments, where I learnt through FUN!

Sure, it means I--Interaction! Imagine who your roommate would be. A girl/boy from the US? Possibly. Someone from Japan? Possibly. Somebody from Cambodia? From Nepal? From Malaysia? Possibly! It was a fun family with friends all over the world and I have enriched my life experience with the diversity AIPE offered.

Sure, it means P--People! Except the diversified classmates, I have also built a network with elites of Hong Kong through various guest lectures. Besides, TFAS extends my network to Washington D.C. As an AIPE alumnus, I have the priority to participate in other programs of TFAS and join the alumni network to know more young leaders!

Sure, it means E--Experience Now! Come to AIPE and have your own experience. Be an AIPEer and fly high!

Cathy Yin Jiazhen, AIPE 2008

AIPE is definitely the MOST AWESOME program I have ever joined. We had the chance to learn from world’s leading scholars, business elites and political leaders; we had the luxury to interact directly with prestigious guest speakers; we got to know outstanding peers from around the globe and build up a life-long friendship; we were treated to trips to various beautiful resorts and exciting places in Hong Kong; we emerged ourselves in a very diverse ethnic group and learned to understand each others’ culture in a fun way; we enjoyed the benefit from TFAS, one of the best run and well-funded alumni network; and most important of all, I made so many interesting, fun, talented friends and they made my 2008 summer the most colorful and memorable of all! So take my word, my friend, join AIPE, and you would know what I am talking about.
