Dr. Xu did his PhD study in the Department of Economics at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. He joined the School of Economics and Finance at Hong Kong University in August 2008.

Dr. Xu's research areas are empirical industrial organization, econometrics and applied microeconomics. The focus of his current research is on the methodological aspect of structural analysis on auction models.

At HKU, Dr. Xu teaches Microeconomic Analysis for Master class and Intermediate Microeconomics.
