The school offers four first degree programmes:
All the four programmes are offered on a 4-year full-time basis. Each academic year consists of two semesters, with final examinations written at the end of each semester.
The School of Economics and Finance offers taught postgraduate programmes leading to the degree of Master of Economics (MEcon) and Master of Finance (MFin), and a research postgraduate programme leading to the degrees of Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
Our postgraduate programmes are offered to post-graduates who want to enhance their knowledge and competitiveness in the globalized economy. Our curricula are revised on a regular basis to incorporate recent developments in different fields of study, and to reflect the ever-changing needs of our students and society at large.
Economics is an academic discipline that explains in a righteous way the various aspects of human behavior and social interaction. The School provides excellent training on both economics theories and its applications. A wide range of courses in different areas, such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, monetary economics, economies of Hong Kong and the Mainland China, and economic history are offered to give students a balanced perspective of the discipline and an insight into the various economic issues that arise everyday.
Finance is an outgrowth of economics and uses economic analysis to deal with individual and corporate financial decisions. The School offers courses in such areas as corporate finance, financial markets & institutions, and investment management. Students will receive excellent training in economic and financial analysis and statistical tools, and will have an in-depth understanding of innovative financial products (such as options and futures), financial markets and institutions, especially those in Asia.
